FDM — HIPS
HIPS - or high impact polystyrene - is a polystyrene material with a high impact strength. It is a good plastic suitable for use in mechanical assemblies as a load-bearing component. Further, it may also be dissolved in limonene allowing you to use HIPS to create a master-pattern for casting. When the mould has been made, it is possible to simply dissolve the HIPS with solvent and you’ll be left with a mould ready for almost any casting, including metal.

- Thin sections are usually slightly flexible
- Dissolves rapidly in certain chemicals
